Thanking Gov. Pawlenty for his work for the world’s poorest people

It’s a wet and dreary day here in New Hampshire, but that did not stop Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty from making his way up to the Granite State to campaign for a few New Hampshire local candidates.

I caught up with Gov. Pawlenty in Manchester, right after an event at the Radisson Hotel. We spoke about his efforts with ONE, how he saw ONE on the trail in 2007, how he made Minnesota a State of ONE and his wife, Mary Pawlenty’s work with medical diplomacy in the developing world.

I thanked Gov. Pawlenty for always making time for ONE and the world’s poorest people, and told him that U.S. efforts to save lives in Africa create a more secure world with greater economic opportunity for everyone. He thanked us for our work as ONE members, and took a ONE band with him on his way out!
Before we left, we ran into our New Hampshire Republican ONE Vote Chair, John Lyons, and a good friend of ONE, Cliff Hurst, who were traveling with Gov. Pawlenty throughout the state.
It certainly feels like fall and campaign season here in New Hampshire. And when elected leaders hit the trail, they will run into ONE members everywhere who celebrate and encourage American efforts to fight extreme poverty and global disease in the poorest places in Africa!
