North Carolina ONE members Rachel Fox, Taylor Isenberg, Brooke Riley, and I had the opportunity to meet with staff members of both of our senators this past Friday in Washington D.C. The goal was to advocate for a strong US commitment of 6 billion dollars over 3 years to replenish the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

This summer, North Carolina ONE volunteers have hosted four meet-ups across the state. Volunteers gathered in Charlotte, Wilmington, Raleigh and Burlington to screen “The Lazarus Effect” and organize locally to advocate for effective poverty-fighting programs such as the Global Fund.

On a very hot and humid Saturday afternoon, I hosted my first ONE meet-up at the Morrison Public Library. My neighboring CDL Phillip Reynolds of Rock Hill, South Carolina also stopped by to help me co-host this event. Despite the heat, we had a great turn out.
